Radiesse
Radiesse is a filling agent primarily used to reduce the appearance of the large smile lines, augment the corners of the mouth, for cheek augmentation, and to fill hollows. Radiesse is a non-animal and non-human based filler that is FDA approved but not for cosmetic purposes. Nonetheless, it is very commonly used for cosmetic enhancement.
Radiesse is quickly becoming my filler of choice for treating the deep smile lines that run from the corner of the nose to the angle of the mouth, called the nasolabial folds. A little goes a long way, and Radiesse lasts about 12 months making it one of the longest lasting temporary fillers available.
Radiesse can also be used for acne scars. It is not a very good treatment for the lips, though, because it forms nodules in this area.
The main side effect of treatment with Radiesse is bruising which is temporary.
Radiesse costs $750 for one syringe. Many patients require only one syringe.
